For 20 years, Whispering Prairie Press has published Kansas City Voices and Kansas City Voices: Youth. While we’ve loved our little magazines and the incredible work that we’ve published, we felt it was time for a change.
Why Kansas City Review?
In the beginning, Kansas City Voices focused on voices from, you guessed it, Kansas City. Over time, however, we expanded to publish people from all over the country and even the world. We draw no geographic boundaries on the prose, poetry, and art that we’re willing to accept. Still, some people saw the name Kansas City Voices and thought that it was by and about the voices of Kansas City.
We love our city, but we welcome voices from all over. So we follow in the proud tradition of literary journals like Paris Review, Southern Review, Sewanee Review, and so many others. Rest assured, little else is changing. We’re still going to publish in large, full color pages that really showcase visual art. We’re still welcoming of literary and genre work that has a strong literary sense.
